Record snowfall this winter transformed the UIC campus and the greater Chicagoland communities into a winter wonderland.
This February, while most students and faculty were off-campus continuing their distanced learning, campus staff were removing 18 inches of snow in an effort to clear the way for essential units still coming to campus.
Seizing the opportunity, Chicagoans braved the cold and began to wander the campus and downtown area. Bundled up with hot chocolate in hand, they explored the snow-covered city and discovered everything it had to offer.
As the campus and trees glistened under the first snowfall, UIC students were seen trekking through the snow to their dorm or on-campus job, while others took advantage of the weather by playing with their dogs or taking a walk with friends. Although we’re looking forward to warmer weather, we can’t help but appreciate our snowy campus.
