While we must wait to congratulate you in person, we cheer you on for your hard work, resilience and accomplishment during UIC’s virtual celebration on May 16. We couldn’t be prouder of you. You have shown great determination and perseverance throughout your time at UIC, and now, in the midst of the most challenging times, we are certain you will make the world a better place for all of us.
Between long hours studying in the library to finding your passion in the classroom, you juggled, balanced and did everything necessary to earn your degree. You were engaged, you grew, you went above and beyond. You will do the same wherever your career takes you.
From convocation to graduation, you’ve fostered lifelong friendships with people from all walks of life. You've formed bonds while unpacking in the residence halls, dancing at UIC Spark, joining student organizations at the Involvement Fair, cheering for the Flames at athletic events and exploring Chicago. You’ve created a community that will carry you well through your life.
At the heart of UIC is community and contribution. Whether you volunteered during your free time, tutored fellow students, researched alongside revered UIC faculty or worked an on-campus job, you understood that we need each other to succeed. You made a difference, and you practiced the tenet that a community is only as strong as individuals who care for it.
Your hard work and commitment has paid off as you transition from students to alumni and to your chosen career. Earning your degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago is a life-changing milestone, and we can’t wait to celebrate everything you’ve accomplished virtually now and in person later. Congratulations to the Class of 2020!
