After a year of uncertainty, the UIC community is working toward the final round in the fight against COVID-19.
VENUES AND EVENTS COVID RESPONSE VIDEO
UIC Venues and Events operates three COVID-19 saliva testing sites on campus, where an average of 5,000 tests are administered per week. Students, faculty, and staff are able to receive tests via scheduled appointments or on a walk-in basis, and receive results within 48 hours.
UIC Venue and Events also operates a testing site once a week at the UIC John Marshall Law School campus located downtown.
Approximately 90% of the testing staff are UIC students, while the remaining 10% are full-time employees and extra help.
Daily schedules are broken up into two shifts per day, with each location staffing 8-12 student employees per shift.
"As someone who gets to serve not only my fellow students, but the staff members that work so hard to ensure that UIC continues to run smoothly during these unprecedented times, I do feel that sense of pride not only for myself, but also for my peers who are working beside me."
- Megan Chesebro, LAS student and Covid Saliva Tester
As the COVID-19 vaccine availability rolls out across the country, the University of Illinois Chicago has joined in the effort. With the guidance from the Chicago Department of Public Health, UIC’s academic health enterprise, UI Health, has begun to vaccinate eligible UI Health patients, UIC employees and students, and others within the community at the Credit Union 1 Arena.
